
EXPERIENCE
Brian joined Ascent in 2003. As general partner, he leads investments and applies his 30 years of experience in the financial services industry to help the firm’s portfolio companies with a focus on financial technology, mobility and internet services including Cargo Metrics, TimeTrade and Knoa. In addition, Brian oversees the firm’s finance and reporting team.
Before joining Ascent, Brian was COO and CFO at Argo Global Capital, a venture capital firm specializing in wireless technologies based in Wakefield, MA. He also served as a senior vice president and group CFO of Fidelity Investment’s operating unit, FPIBG, which included Fidelity’s retail mutual funds and brokerage businesses, and their Capital Markets, Institutional Brokerage, and Registered Investment Advisory businesses. While at Fidelity, Brian also was CFO of FIIS, Fidelity’s intermediary-based mutual funds division and was a Senior Vice President and Division Executive of their Institutional Brokerage division. Prior to Fidelity, he was a Senior Vice President, CFO and Treasurer of an investment management firm, Affiliated Managers Group, which he helped to take public. He was also a Senior Vice President and CFO of an investment management firm, PIMCO Advisors, which he helped to take public, as well.
Brian is a former CPA and spent six years at Coopers & Lybrand early in his career where he led financial audits of large New York-based financial institutions.
EDUCATION
Brian earned a BS in accounting and business administration from Manhattan College.
LIFE OUTSIDE WORK
Brian enjoys playing golf and is a member of Turner Hill, where he served as chairman of the board from 2007 to 2010 after volunteering to lead a buyout and reorganize the club. He has two sons, lives on the North Shore, and enjoys boating, fishing and skiing when he’s not golfing.
