Ascent’s August: Big Data, SaaS Metrics, Entrepreneurial Advice and More
Our blog has been relatively quiet for the last month, but it’s not because we’ve stopped writing or taken a long vacation. We’ve been quite busy, actually, contributing articles to various publications throughout the month of August. Here’s a quick recap of what we’ve written recently, in case you missed them:
- GigaOM: The Problem with SaaS Metrics (August 4th)
I wrote about the business metrics disconnect between SaaS startups and their potential acquirers, and how it can lead to problems come acquisition time. - AllThingsD: Overly Optimistic Things Entrepreneurs Say (August 20th)
Luke provided a lighthearted look at some entrepreneurial phrases that, while good-intentioned, are often far from reality. - VentureFizz: Entrepreneurial Advice is Not Always One-Size-Fits-All (August 23rd)
Luke discussed the large amount of variability in the advice given to entrepreneurs. A former entrepreneur himself, he offered some advice about advice. - Boston.com: Big potential for Big Data in the Massachusetts economy (August 27th)
I explained why we are falling short of what can be accomplished with Big Data, and the role Massachusetts is playing in harnessing the potential of the technology.
Speaking of Big Data, I was invited by Xconomy to speak at their Future of Big Data Forum in October. I look forward to participating and hope you can come join us.
Expect to hear more from us in the coming months in the publications you read every day. You can also keep up-to-date on all things Ascent by following us on Twitter at @AscentVP.
