Ascent was an early investor in Sensitech, a developer of solutions for monitoring perishable products in transit. The Company’s systems monitor temperature and other environmental conditions to ensure that shipping does not degrade product quality. Ascent assisted Sensitech’s management with multiple successful acquisitions to strengthen the Company’s leadership in the market. Additionally, Sensitech was an early innovator in developing RFID-based cold chain solutions to “track and trace” goods in transit that were introduced to the market beginning in 2002. These new products accelerated Sensitech’s growth and established the Company as the clear market leader. Ultimately, Sensitech’s customer base included 18 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies, 7 of the top 10 supermarket chains, and 10 of the top 15 restaurant chains. Sensitech’s exceptional performance and growth potential were recognized by Carrier Corporation (a division of United Technologies) resulting in their high value acquisition of Sensitech in June 2006.

Ascent developed a solid relationship with Sensitech’s executive team through our involvement with the Company. Eric Schultz, Sensitech’s CEO, is currently a member of Ascent’s Venture Partner Program.

"Ascent has been a patient, involved and consistent partner to Sensitech. They are supportive of management, and engaged in many of our major strategic initiatives."
