Experience: Brian Girvan has over nine years of venture capital experience including 6 years at Ascent. Mr Girvan has over 30 years of experience in the Financial Services industry. Prior to Ascent, Mr. Girvan was COO and CFO at Argo Global Capital, a $400 million venture capital firm specializing in wireless technologies based in Wakefield, MA. Prior to Argo, Mr. Girvan was a Senior Vice President and Group CFO of Fidelity Investment’s $500 billion operating unit, FPIBG, which included Fidelity’s retail mutual funds and brokerage businesses, and their Capital Markets, Institutional Brokerage, and Registered Investment Advisory businesses. While at Fidelity, Mr. Girvan also served as CFO of FIIS, Fidelity’s $200 billion intermediary-based mutual funds division and was a Senior Vice President and Division Executive of their Institutional Brokerage division. Prior to Fidelity, he was a Senior Vice President, CFO and Treasurer of a $70 billion investment management firm, Affiliated Managers Group, which he helped to take public and a Senior Vice President and CFO of a $100 billion investment management firm, PIMCO Advisors, which he also helped to take public. Mr. Girvan is a licensed CPA and spent six years at Coopers & Lybrand early in his career where he led financial audits of large New York based financial institutions.

Education: Attended Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York where he received a B.S. (BBA) degree in accounting.
